From the flickr set: “I found these in a red photo album marked “Darlene” at a swap meet in Huntington Beach, California. I didn’t know these photos were in there until I got in the car and really looked at the photos. Then I was like, “Whoa! People doing drugs.”
This is my current music pick. Really great electronics. Very intimate. Things feel very smooth and grand. Sound is informed by old informational videos, soundtracks, among other things.
There is a jacket and a shirt here that I would really like to have. Hopefully they are not TOO expensive. I fully expect the jacket to be $300… i might just pay that.
Completely and utterly unintelligible. Southland Tales is a complete mess of the most colossal scale. What’s worse is that it doesn’t know it. It spends 2 hours doing it’s best to be heady and in the end it is just stupid. It doesn’t know if it is a dark comedy or a dark sci-fi.
That said, I don’t really regret watching it. It looks nice. There is something in it that wanted to be good. There was potential for quality entertainment. The music is well chosen and well mixed. Too bad it is just a movie filled with references, cameos, humor and no connective tissue. It wants to be big, but it feels disconcertingly small. Oh well. Better luck next time Richard Kelly.
